How to use 8x8

Making a call

Within the Teams application go to the Calls option and use the number pad to make a call

NB: Within the calls area there are several options:

Speed dial - you can create individual speed dials or group speed dials, selecting contacts or entering an external number
Contacts - create contacts to easily find numbers (these also pull through from your Outlook)
History - see your full call history for internal and external calls
Voicemail - we use voicemail within the 8x8 application

Receiving a call

An incoming call will pop up a notification in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just click the purple icon to answer the call

Putting a call on hold

Click on the three dots and click hold, whilst the caller is on hold music will be played

Blind transfer a call

To transfer a call without speaking to the person you are transferring to, select the three dots and click transfer

Select the person you want to transfer to or dial the external number and then click transfer. You can transfer to either their mobile, direct dial or work voicemail.

Consult and transfer

To transfer a call and announce who is on the phone before transferring, select the three dots and click Consult then transfer

Select the person you want to transfer to and click the arrow next to the Chat button, you can either send a chat message or speak with the person you are transferring to. Once notified click transfer

NB: When you select chat, this will open a separate chat window

Merge a call

To merge two active calls click on the three dots and select Merge Calls

Choose the call to merge and click Merge

NB: When the calls merge it will automatically announce that a participant is joining the call and the same will happen when the external caller leaves the call. Once the call is merged, no further call transfers are possible.

Add participants to a call

To add additional participants to your call, click on Show participants icon and type the persons number in the search box.

Once you have found the person you want to add to the call, click Request to join and they will be called

NB: Their status is not displayed in this feature
